Today, I spent about three hours walking down to one of the water sources for the village of Bulape. I think all of them are down the hill through woods. Also, I think it was probably less than an hour there and an hour back, too. Please visit www.EndingExtremePoverty.org to read about my trip down to the water source.
I almost looked like the women and girls because I soaking wet. They were soaking wet from water spilling out of their jugs, buckets, and pales on their heads. I was soaking wet with sweat. My few extra pounds caused more of a workout than I expected.
Tomorrow, I volunteered to help the women (Mamas Sylvie, Rose, and Jacqueline) work on their guest house. We will be placing mud between two bamboo strips tied to posts. The strips hold the mud in place until it dries to form a mud insulated wall.
The wall does not look to hard. It is going to dirty making the mud packs to stick between the bamboo strips. Also, it is going to back breaking. Up and down to pick up mud off the ground and place it between the bamboo strips.
I am looking forward to Sunday and a day of rest!
