I had a surprise visit by Pastor Jack and Father David from Mweka about 20 miles from Bulape. Pastor Jack, the former chaplain at the Bulape Hospital, had seen me in Mweka when I was waiting on my ride to Bulape. He promised he would come to visit me. I still was surprised.
Ok, you can call me a wimp or whatever. But I did want to go and help the women. I even took an Aleve this morning to prepare my body for the shock.
It was the Pastor Jacky's fault. Not really but she and her husband came by last night to invite me to dinner. She felt more comfortable giving the invitation to Justin instead of trying in my half broken French and English with me. (I got to learn more French.) She talked to Justin and made the dinner date. Of course, Justin was not planning to work with the women so he accepted the invitation.
We went to the hospital's cybercafe after visiting an elementary. (Please see www.EndingExtremePoverty.org for the details of my visit.) They wanted me to try to fix some old desktop computer. One have a dead battery. Another had a bad power supply. And the third, your guess is as good as mine.
As we were leaving the hospital's cybercafe, I did not see them working so I did not feel so bad. But when we got home from dinner at Pastor Jacky's house, the women had came by looking for me. Also, they had brought me some bananas, peanuts and palm wine, either as a goodwill gesture or to make me feel really bad. I felt really bad some I am hook even deeper now.
